US Zhejiang General Chamber of Commerce

The US Zhejiang General Chamber of Commerce was registered with the US government as a non-profit organization on November 23, 2016. Its members are business people from Zhejiang living in the United States, together with outstanding professionals from other provinces who contribute to US–China and Zhejiang development. Instead of a business-only membership, the chamber combines technology talent with business leaders: trade sets the stage, technology paves the way, and people take the lead.

Guided by its mission to create a broader platform for members to pursue both the American Dream and the Chinese Dream, the chamber offers its members opportunities to share resources. The Silicon Valley Chapter is its local chapter in Silicon Valley, drawing on the chamber’s resources and network to serve Zhejiang entrepreneurs, founders and professionals in the Bay Area.

Founding president: Lin Guang, a native of Wenzhou, Zhejiang; re-elected for a second term in 2020
Membership: More than 20 states and 100 cities across the US, spanning business, finance, technology, real estate, healthcare, education and public service
Youth Committee: Founded in 2021, with more than 1,500 members

Key work and signature events

More than 200 events since its founding, including a 100-member delegation to China that brought over 50 technology and innovation projects
Launched the free Chinese Travelers' Emergency Assistance Hotline, 1-833-20-58259 (LUCKY), for Chinese visitors to the US
Co-hosts several high-level economic forums each year with the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, interpreting US–China trade policy
Organizes the International Youth Art and Technology Competition to nurture young innovators
Raised RMB 1.15 million in relief funds after the 2019 Zhejiang typhoon
During COVID-19, formed an emergency task force that sent protective supplies to frontline workers in Wuhan and across Zhejiang; in the US it ran a hotline for Chinese students, donated masks to student associations at over 100 universities, set up parent WeChat groups and 30 'family doctor' contact points, and gave away more than 2 million protective items to local governments, communities and institutions
Launched one-stop services for international students in 2022; founded the Influencer Economy Alliance and the 'Beimei Awards' in 2023
Runs the multi-year signature event 'Ten Cities Celebrate Mid-Autumn'; in 2023 a 500-guest party was held on a cruise in Newport Beach, Los Angeles
